The Howling Coyote Tour is a touring musical showcase who’s mission is to expose and promote independent talented singer-songwriters from the Southwest, all of whom have music of content, and through the diversity of each artist's style; compliment each other’s work. The showcase introduces the listener to several artists at one show. As the tour progresses, the show evolves, which keeps things lively and fresh for both the artists and the listener. Artists have CDs available at the shows, their websites, iTunes, etc. Artists involved perform weekly in and around Arizona and have established followings. Each year, in the summer season, we take the showcase into California or Colorado from and throughout Arizona!
The Howling Coyote Tour, brainchild of songwriter Jim Sobo, brings together a collection of performers from Arizona's thriving music scene. "We're trying to extend our musical community here to other musical communities," Sobo said. "We're trying to get the these artis the recognition and exposure I feel they deserve."
In the 1990s, while playing with the band, Common Ground, Sobo got the break many songwriters only see in their dreams, after gaining local airplay on AAA Stations, he licensed a song to a film soundtrack and the royalties allowed Sobo to relocate his family to Prescott, AZ. "I moved up here to get away from the industry, but I found myself in a vibrant music scene," said Sobo, who works as a tour promoter when he's not making music. As tour organizer, " I try to keep the performers in a healthy creative environment, so they can really enjoy the experience." he said. "We try to keep the show lively and diverse and dynamic. You get to see several different artists in a three hour period. You're exposed to music that you wouldn't have heard otherwise."
